KB Insurance said on the 10th that it convened the outside director candidate recommendation committee and recommended Jo Hye-jin, a professor in the Department of Consumer Studies at Incheon National University and an expert in financial consumer protection, as a new outside director candidate.
The recommendation reflects the financial authorities' emphasis on strengthening governance centered on financial consumer protection and the best practices of financial companies' consumer protection governance.
Candidate Jo Hye-jin is an expert who has continuously researched financial consumer protection policy and the consumer finance sector. She is currently a professor in the Department of Consumer Studies at Incheon National University and has researched financial consumer behavior, household financial management, and consumer protection for insurance and financial products. In particular, she has focused on financial consumer protection systems, financial education, and protection of financially vulnerable groups as her main research areas, pursuing both academic research and policy recommendations.
She has also served as a director at the Korea Academy of Financial Consumers, the Korean Home Management Association, and the Korean Association for Consumer Policy and Education, contributing to building the academic foundation and advancing systems in the consumer finance field.
Jo served as an expert member of the Financial Services Commission's task force on financial consumer protection and financial education, a member of the evaluation committee on financial market competitiveness, and a deliberation member of the Financial Supervisory Service's administrative guidance deliberation committee, participating in discussions to improve financial consumer protection policies and order in the financial market. In addition, she served as a member of the Insurance Policy Understanding Evaluation Committee at the Korea Insurance Development Institute, accumulating experience related to insurance and practical advisory experience on consumer protection systems and internal controls across financial companies' products and services.
Jo Hye-jin is expected to be appointed as an outside director of KB Insurance upon approval at the regular shareholders meeting scheduled for the 20th, with a one-year term.
