Hana Financial Group and some affiliates are reportedly reviewing a plan to first implement a 4.5-day workweek for employees transferring to Cheongna in the second half of this year, as the group transfers to Cheongna in Incheon. The aim is to shorten working hours in consideration of complaints from some employees who commute from Seoul.
According to the financial sector on the 9th, Hana Financial Group will submit a proposal to amend its articles of incorporation at a shareholders meeting this month to change the location of its headquarters from Seoul to Incheon. If the amendment passes, the headquarters transfer will take effect on Sept. 30.
Hana Financial Group is also considering ways to provide incentives to employees who move their workplace to Cheongna along with the amendment of the articles. It is said to be reviewing a pilot implementation of a 4.5-day workweek. This is a measure taken in view of longer commuting times due to the headquarters transfer.
A senior official in the financial sector said, "There are employees dissatisfied with the plan to transfer the headquarters to Cheongna, so we are considering first implementing a 4.5-day workweek."
Hana Financial Group will begin a full-fledged headquarters transfer in the second half of this year. About 2,800 employees from major affiliates—including the holding company, bank, securities, card, life insurance, and non-life insurance—are scheduled to work at the new Cheongna headquarters building. Hana Financial Group companies mainly have their headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, and Yeouido. As most employees live in Seoul, there are reportedly complaints about the Cheongna transfer.
Hana Financial Group plans to use the headquarters transfer as an opportunity to maximize group synergy and leap forward as a financial company leading the digital and global financial markets.
