The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants said on the 3rd that it held the "simultaneous launch ceremony of the 12 Seoul regional certified public accountant associations" at the Coreana Cosmetics Hotel in Seoul on the 26th of last month.
With the launch of the Seoul regional associations, the "regional network activation project" that the institute has been promoting in stages since last year has been completed.
Starting with Gangwon in Oct. last year and Jeju in Nov., followed by four regions in Incheon in Dec. and 14 regions in Gyeonggi in Jan. this year, the institute has built a regional organizational network up to the 12 regions in Seoul.
About 150 people attended the launch ceremony, including President Choi, the inaugural chairs of the 12 Seoul regions, the regional chairs under the provincial certified public accountants association, executives of the main association, and members from Seoul-based accounting firms and sole practices.
Certified public accountants with extensive practical experience and an understanding of regional characteristics were appointed as the inaugural chairs of the 12 regional associations that will be responsible for each area of Seoul, and they will begin full-fledged activities.
In a welcome address, President Choi said, "Because Seoul is where economic and policy trends begin first and converge, certified public accountants who know the field well should be the central axis that realizes the value of accounting," and emphasized, "I expect the 12 regional associations launching today to become the hub for promoting exchanges among members, enhance accounting transparency in the local economic field, and lay the foundation for building trust across our society."
Taking the nationwide network as an opportunity, the institute plans to actively reflect voices from the field in each region in its operations and further strengthen its public-interest role as experts.
