Na Hyun-seung, 56, a professor at the Korea University Business School, has been appointed the new president of the Korean Securities Association.
The Korean Securities Association said on the 2nd that it appointed Na as the new president at the 50th regular general meeting held on the 27th.
Na, the new president, is a professor of finance at the Korea University Business School and also serves as associate dean for academic affairs of the business school and as chair of the department of business administration. His main research areas are corporate finance, corporate governance, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
Na received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the department of business administration at Korea University, a master's degree in statistics from Columbia University in the United States, and a Ph.D. in finance from Michigan State University.
He also serves as a Commissioner on the Investment Review Committee of the Construction Workers Mutual Aid Association (CW), and has participated in public- and financial-institution advisory roles, including serving as a Commissioner on the Stewardship Responsibility Committee of the Teachers Pension and on the Fund Management Deliberation Committee of the Military Pension.
Meanwhile, founded in 1976 and marking its 50th anniversary this year, the Korean Securities Association is regarded as one of the academic societies with the longest history and tradition in the field of finance in Asia. About 1,500 members are currently active, and, through connecting academia and practice, it has contributed to the development of Korea's capital markets and financial industry, the association said.
