The MBK Partners Social Responsibility Committee said on the 26th that it held a general meeting on the 24th and finalized this year's business plan.
The committee said, "We will make this year the first year of establishing a responsible investment framework and build the institutionalization of responsible investment principles and an execution foundation." Specifically, it decided to pursue three main tasks: ▲ advancing the governance system ▲ establishing a virtuous-cycle value creation model ▲ strengthening the foundation for future growth engines.
The committee was launched in Oct. last year. It was launched to apply the "principles of responsibility and sustainability" across decision-making. Lee Young-seong, former publisher and CEO of Hankook Ilbo, serves as Chairperson. It is composed of seven internal and external experts, including Lim Seo-jung, former senior secretary for job creation at the Presidential Secretariat, Yoon Sung-uk, former 2nd deputy minister at the Office for Government Policy Coordination, and Yoon Jong-ha, a partner at MBK Partners.
Through four general meetings so far, the committee has conducted in-depth analyses of the governance and responsible investment frameworks of major global private equity managers and has discussed ways to systematically link ESG factors to investment strategy and value creation.
In the first half of this year, the committee plans to conduct a perception survey on private equity managers and, based on the findings, to sequentially push forward concrete execution tasks such as ▲ revising the responsible investment code ▲ advancing the strategy for creating social value ▲ systematizing programs to enhance stakeholder trust.
Chairperson Lee Young-seong said, "The global investment environment is rapidly evolving to demand social responsibility and sustainability in addition to financial performance," adding, "MBK Partners will also respond to this change by strengthening responsible investment principles and presenting alternatives to realize social contribution."
