Shares of KOSPI-listed KleanNara were strong in early trading on the 25th. Buying picked up after President Lee Jae-myung said "thank you" on social media (SNS) this morning to KleanNara, which plans to introduce low-priced sanitary pads.
As of 9:38 a.m., KleanNara was trading at 2,025 won, up 98 won (5.09%) from the previous session.
The president shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) saying KleanNara would launch low-priced sanitary pads priced at 100 won per pad in partnership with Asung Daiso Co.
He added, "Thank you to KleanNara."
KleanNara, which manufactures sanitary products including sanitary pads, also saw its share price rise last month after the president's remark about "reviewing free supply of sanitary pads."
At a Cabinet meeting on the 20th of last month, the president said, "It seems our country's sanitary pads are nearly 40% more expensive than those overseas; shouldn't we also make and sell cheaper ones so that people in poverty can use them?" and added, "We are looking into making low-cost sanitary pads with basic quality and supplying them free of charge."
