The Korea Insurance Research Institute said on the 24th that it appointed Kim Heon-su, a professor at Soonchunhyang University, as its seventh president through a general meeting of employees. Kim's term runs from Mar. 1 to Feb. 28, 2029.
President Kim Heon-su graduated from the Department of Business Administration at Pusan National University and earned a Master of Science in RMI and a Ph.D. in business administration with a concentration in insurance from Georgia State University in the United States. While serving as a professor in the Department of IT Finance at Soonchunhyang University, Kim also served as dean of the College of Global Business and as chair of the Department of Finance and Insurance. Kim also served as president of the Korea Insurance Academic Society, president of the Korea Risk Management Society, and president of the Asia-Pacific Risk and Insurance Association.
After the launch of the Lee Jae-myung administration, President Kim also served as an advisor to the No. 1 Economy Subcommittee of the Presidential Committee on Policy Planning. Kim also served as chairperson of the insurance subcommittee of the Financial Supervisory Service Financial Supervision Advisory Committee, an ombudsman commissioner, and chairperson of the task force on supervisory innovation in the insurance industry.
