It emerged that an internal employee of the Credit Finance Association accessed another employee's emails without authorization, and disciplinary procedures have begun.
According to the financial industry on Feb. 5, the Credit Finance Association learned in Dec. last year that an employee in the card division's consumer protection department had logged into email using a colleague's intranet account ID, and launched an internal audit. After confirming the facts, the association investigated internal staff to determine whether they had provided the employee with the ID, password, and other information.
The Credit Finance Association said there was no information leak, and that based on legal advice from a law firm, it determined the matter did not require reporting to the Financial Supervisory Service and is under internal investigation.
The Credit Finance Association is investigating the specific circumstances, including the extent of the employee's viewing of another employee's emails. Once the investigation is complete, it plans to decide the level of discipline.
