The Korea Exchange (KRX) has introduced an artificial intelligence (AI) system to detect unfair trading early in cyberspace, including online communities, social media and YouTube. It aims to compensate for the difficulty of having staff verify the vast amount of information spreading online one by one.
The Korea Exchange (KRX) said on the 2nd that it will operate a system applying AI technology to quickly detect stocks at risk of abnormal trading and to strengthen the Market Surveillance Committee's initial response function.
The newly introduced system analyzes online posts, spam text message reports and YouTube videos related to stocks previously classified as potentially abnormal, and detects stocks with a high risk of abnormal transactions based on objective judgment indicators generated through learning. Detected stocks will be closely analyzed by specialists for follow-up action.
The exchange said, "Through AI's automatic detection function, the initial analysis period is expected to be shortened," and added, "We will expand the use of AI technology so that information in cyberspace can be analyzed efficiently and quickly to detect unfair transactions in the capital market at an early stage."
