Samsung Asset Management said on the 28th that the "KODEX 200" ETF surpassed 1.43937 trillion won in net worth, taking the No. 1 spot in the entire exchange-traded fund (ETF) market by net worth.
The ETF tracks the KOSPI200 index. KODEX 200 posted an annual return of 94.5% last year. So far this year, it has risen 22.9% from the start of the year.
The company said that because it allows diversified investment across large-cap stocks, it is widely used not only by individual investors but also by institutional investors such as pension funds. It added that the average daily transaction value is about 1 trillion won, and liquidity is ample, resulting in a low gap between order prices and actual execution prices.
Jeong Jae-uk, head of ETF Management Team 3 at Samsung Asset Management, said, "With the arrival of the KOSPI 5000 era, it is highly symbolic that KODEX 200, which best reflects the growth potential of the South Korean economy, has taken the No. 1 spot in net worth among all ETFs," adding, "As the upward momentum of the domestic stock market continues, investor demand for ETFs that allow the most efficient participation in the market will further expand."
