On the 15th, the KOSPI hit a record high again during intraday trading. The KOSDAQ, which was weak early in the session, also turned higher.
As of 11:48 a.m., the KOSPI was at 4,736.78, up 13.68 points (0.29%) from the previous trading day. The index jumped to as high as 4,757.35 early in the session, marking a record high for the 10th straight trading day.
In the main board, institutions were net buyers with about 420 billion won. Of that, financial investment, including exchange-traded fund (ETF) flows, accounted for 190 billion won, and the national pension funds accounted for 240 billion won. Retail investors and foreigners were net sellers of about 430 billion won and 85 billion won, respectively.
Six of the top 10 stocks by market cap were rising. With Samsung Electronics (0.21%) and SK hynix (-1.21%) catching their breath, Samsung Biologics (2.59%), Hyundai Motor (1.58%), and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (2.11%) were strong. Meanwhile, Doosan Enerbility (-1%) and LG Energy Solution (-0.9%) were struggling.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ was at 943.27, up 1.09 points (0.12%) from the previous trading day. The KOSDAQ was weak during intraday trading on retail selling but turned higher as foreigners shifted to net buying.
In the KOSDAQ market, foreigners and institutional investors moved to "buy," with about 100 billion won and 8 billion won, respectively. Retail investors were dumping about 100 billion won worth.
Eight of the top 10 KOSDAQ stocks by market cap were gaining. Except for ECOPRO BM (-0.93%) and EcoPro (-0.96%), shares such as Alteogen (0.21%), Rainbow Robotics (13.07%), and Sam Chun Dang Pharm (5.27%) were trading higher than the previous day.
In the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won-dollar exchange rate stood at 1,472.50 won per $1.
