Bitcoin's price rebounded slightly in the new year to $88,000.
According to CoinMarketCap, a global virtual asset market tracker, it stood at $88,621 as of 8:30 a.m. on the 2nd. It was up 1.24% from 24 hours earlier and 1.36% from a week earlier.
Around the same time, Ethereum topped $3,000. It rose 1.02% from 24 hours earlier and 2.78% from a week earlier. BNB was $862.97, up 3.17% from a week earlier, XRP was $1.87, up 1.95%, and Solana was $126.77, up 4.35%.
Experts said Bitcoin is being classified as a risk asset like stocks. It has been called "digital gold" and regarded as an alternative investment, but in practice it shows a pattern similar to risk assets such as stocks. Analysts projected that this year as well, Bitcoin will react sensitively to stock market variables.
