On Jan. 2, NongHyup Bank President Kang Tae-young said in a New Year's address that the bank "must present a comprehensive asset management strategy that encompasses customers' asset, spending and liability."
Kang said, "By being the first to capture customers' changes and needs and providing hyper-personalized finance, we must ensure the realization of finance that grows together."
Kang continued, "Through productive finance, we must lead the real economy's recovery and growth," adding, "Finance must go beyond the simple supply of funds to invigorate the real economy and be more faithful to its original role of supporting sustainable growth."
Kang also said, "Only when profitability is secured can we steadfastly carry out our role and mission for agriculture and rural communities amid fierce market competition, and only when soundness accompanies it can that growth be sustained." He added, "By strengthening non-face-to-face platforms and data-driven sales capabilities, we must broaden our business base for core customer segments and build a strong earnings structure that enables stable growth not only in interest income but also in noninterest income."
Kang urged employees to "take the lead in protecting financial consumers and achieve zero financial accidents as an honest organization based on principles and rules," and to "protect financial consumers as the top priority throughout the entire process from product and service development to sales, and respond meticulously to information security."
Kang said, "Artificial intelligence (AI) is not just a tool to improve work efficiency; it is a technology that fundamentally changes how work is judged and executed," adding, "Now we must implement an 'Agentic AI bank' that creates a virtuous cycle in which the data and experience accumulated in the field improve AI performance and service quality, so that work innovation using AI leads to innovation in the customer experience."
