KB Kookmin Bank President Lee Hwan-ju urged the bank not to rest on its past reputation and to solidly expand into new customers and markets.
On the morning of the 2nd at the Yeouido new building, Lee held the "2026 kickoff ceremony" and said, "As we start the new year, I want to share two keywords: 'expansion' and 'transition,'" stressing that KB should solidly expand its financial territory and boldly shift its thinking and actions to align with customer and social trends.
Lee said, "To navigate the great transition in finance, we can move into the future only if we can go beyond past traditions and practices," adding, "Do not settle any longer for the past reputation as a 'powerhouse in retail finance,' and instead solidly expand KB's financial territory into new customers and markets." He emphasized that this should be another innovation that changes KB Kookmin Bank's "strategic orientation," not merely an exercise in increasing the number of customers and expanding markets.
As key directions, he presented: ▲ expanding the bank's management orientation by strengthening customer trust and creating social value ▲ an evolutionary transition in sales methods ▲ building sources of differentiated capabilities and execution power. He also conveyed the resolve that, as the importance of protecting financial consumers' rights and interests, safeguarding customer information, and strengthening internal controls has grown recently, there must not be even the slightest shortfall in related efforts.
In particular, Lee said, "We must be the warm hand of inclusive finance that supports the financially marginalized and helps vulnerable people make an economic comeback," expressing an intention to faithfully fulfill the bank's social role.
