Korea Exchange (KRX) said on the 30th that it will hold the "2026 securities and derivatives market opening ceremony" on Jan. 2 next year, the first trading day of the new year.
The opening ceremony will be held for one hour from 9:10 a.m. at the comprehensive PR center on the second floor of Market Square at the Seoul headquarters of Korea Exchange (KRX) in Yeouido, Seoul.
Executives from the National Assembly, the government, related agencies, and financial investment companies will attend. The event will proceed in the order of the national ceremony, opening remarks, congratulatory remarks, and the opening bell signal.
Because of the opening ceremony, regular market trading will start at 10 a.m., one hour later than usual. The closing time is the same as usual, 3:30 p.m.
Alternative trading system NEXTRADE (NXT) will not operate the pre-market (8 a.m.–8:50 a.m.) in line with the stock market opening ceremony. The main market and block and basket trading markets will all start trading at 10:00:30 a.m. and close at the usual time.
