Korea Exchange (KRX) will begin building a system to extend stock transaction hours to 12 hours a day.
According to the financial investment industry on the 25th, the exchange plans to hold a board meeting on the 29th to approve a reorganization plan that includes the creation of a "pre- and after-market system task force (TF)."
The exchange is reviewing a plan to establish pre- and after-market sessions, like the alternative trading system NEXTRADE (NXT), to extend daily stock transaction hours to 8 a.m.–8 p.m. or 7 a.m.–7 p.m. The specific form of the exchange's transaction-hours extension is expected to be decided in the first quarter of 2026 (Jan.–Mar.).
Earlier, the exchange gathered positions from member firms on extending transaction hours and has been holding consultations.
