On the 19th, Mirae Asset Venture Investment hit the intraday upper limit and set a new high for the year. Analysts said it was due to expectations that SpaceX, the U.S. aerospace corporations led by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, will go public.
As of 10:02 a.m. that day on the KOSDAQ market, Mirae Asset Venture Investment was trading at 18,510 won, up 4,270 won (29.99%) from the previous trading day. It hit the intraday upper limit and set a 52-week high.
Mirae Asset group previously invested a total of $278 million (about 410 billion won) in SpaceX in 2022–2023. Mirae Asset Securities, Mirae Asset Venture Investment, and Mirae Asset Capital participated.
SpaceX is highly likely to conduct an initial public offering (IPO) in the second half of next year. SpaceX recently received a corporations valuation of $800 billion (about 1,180 trillion won) in private stock transactions. If SpaceX succeeds in its IPO, the value of the equity held by the Mirae Asset group will rise by nearly five to six times.
Aerospace stocks led by SpaceX were also strong intraday. At the same time, NanoTIM was at 8,150 won, up 1,880 won (29.98%) from the previous trading day; Genohco was at 17,240 won, up 1,890 won (12.31%); and Kencoa Aerospace was at 12,870 won, up 640 won (5.23%).
Choi Jeong-hwan of LS Securities said, "The core of the space industry is space infrastructure," adding, "It is positive for corporations that directly sell satellites, launch vehicles, and ground systems as goods or services, or that are in the SpaceX supply chain within the supply chain."
