About 120 people, including executives of The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants and young certified public accountants, attended the town hall meeting. Young certified public accountants who could not attend in person also joined online.
The event proceeded in the following order: presenting opinions on accounting industry issues through advance questions from young certified public accountants, sharing key issues of The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and on-site Q&A.
That day, young certified public accountants presented opinions on key issues such as: ▲ clarifying the scope of duties through revisions to laws related to certified public accountants ▲ operation of regional transparency committees ▲ the number of certified public accountants selected ▲ stabilization measures for unspecified trainees.
Hwang Byung-chan, head of the young certified public accountants association, said, "Through this town hall meeting, we directly conveyed to the institute the voices of young accountants, including the need to actively push for amendments to the Certified Public Accountant Act," and noted that it was "a venue to expand practical points of communication."
An official at The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants said, "We plan to actively reflect the opinions of young accountants in the priority of business execution today, and we will continue to create opportunities for dialogue so that the opinions of young members can be reflected in systems and policies."
