Kwangju Bank held a regular shareholders meeting on the 17th and appointed Vice President Chung Il-sun, 56, as the bank's 15th president. The term is two years starting Jan. 1 next year.
Born in 1968, the new president Chung graduated from Jeonnam High School and the Department of Business Administration at Hallym University, then joined Kwangju Bank.
Chung served as head of the credit support team; head of the Advanced Industrial Complex 2 Branch; head of the inclusive finance center; head of human resources support; and vice president of the business strategy division.
Kwangju Bank's executive recommendation committee held a meeting on the 15th and solely recommended the new president Chung as the candidate for the next president. Incumbent President Ko Byung-il was also mentioned as a candidate but was said to have declined.
