With next year's local elections ahead, theme stocks related to Chong Won-o, the Seongdong District chief, are surging.
As of 9:16 a.m. on the 16th, SJ Group was trading at 6,400 won on the KOSDAQ market, up 29.82% (1,470 won) from the previous session.
HIDEEP, Daejoo and Ryuk-Il C&S are also jumping across the board on the KOSDAQ market.
SJ Group operates a multi-cultural space in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong District, and was grouped as a theme stock related to the district chief. Daejoo drew attention because its CEO shares the same Gyeongju Jeong clan as the district chief, and Ryuk-Il C&S has its headquarters in Yeosu, South Jeolla Province, the district chief's hometown. HIDEEP is known to have its CEO as an alumnus of the district chief.
It appears to be the result of the market searching for "Chong Won-o theme stocks" after results on the 15th showed the district chief ahead of Oh Se-hoon, the Seoul mayor, in a poll for the next Seoul mayor. In a poll conducted by Research View at the request of KPI News of 1,000 Seoul residents aged 18 or older on the 12th-13th, the district chief recorded 45.2% and Mayor Oh 38.1%.
Meanwhile, the poll cited in the article was conducted via an ARS phone survey. The margin of error is ±3.1 percentage points at the 95% confidence level, and the response rate is 5.4%.
