Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong returned to Korea after wrapping up a series of relay meetings with global big tech chiefs in the United States.
Lee entered the Seoul Gimpo Business Aviation Center in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, at about 9:40 p.m. on the 15th and, when asked about his business trip, said, "I worked hard." Lee was reported to have met with Tesla Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elon Musk and AMD CEO Lisa Su during the U.S. trip.
Samsung Electronics and Tesla were said to have discussed cooperation on next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) chips and stabilizing semiconductor supply during the meeting. The two companies signed a 23 trillion won foundry supply deal in Jul. and agreed to produce the next-generation high-performance chip AI6, which is key to Tesla's Full Autonomous Driving (FDS). Samsung Electronics is currently producing Tesla's AI4 as well.
Samsung Electronics was also reported to be strengthening cooperation with AMD, seen as a rival to Nvidia. Samsung Electronics is currently supplying HBM3E to AMD.
