Police investigating Coupang's large-scale personal information leak have finished the sixth day of searches and seizures at Coupang's headquarters office in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's cyber investigation unit said the search and seizure at Coupang's headquarters that began at 9:30 a.m. on the 15th ended at about 9 p.m., 11 hours and 30 minutes later.
Police have been conducting searches and seizures at Coupang's headquarters every day since the 9th. Police said the materials held by Coupang are extensive, so securing them is taking time. As of the previous day, police had secured 60% of the targeted materials.
Based on the materials secured, police are examining the technical vulnerabilities of Coupang's internal management system while also tracking the whereabouts of a Chinese national, identified as A, who has been named as a suspect in the personal information leak.
Seoul Metropolitan Police Commissioner Park Jeong-bo said, "We plan to analyze the seized items to identify the leak route and the intruder and to look into whether there were any shortcomings by Coupang in relation to personal information protection," adding, "We are actively carrying out the necessary procedures to secure A's custody."
