Han Jong-su, a professor at the College of Business at Ewha Womans University, and Kwak Byung-jin, a professor at the College of Business at KAIST, were selected as the final candidates for the next head of the Korea Accounting Standards Board.
The Korea Accounting Standards Board said on the 11th that it held a committee to recommend candidates for the head, decided to select two of the nominees as final candidates, assign rankings, and recommend them to the general meeting of members.
The candidates recommended by the recommendation committee to the general meeting of members are Han Jong-su, professor at the College of Business at Ewha Womans University, as the first choice, and Kwak Byung-jin, professor at the College of Business at KAIST, as the second choice.
After a report to the board of directors on Jan. 16, the 10th head of the Korea Accounting Standards Board is scheduled to be appointed by a resolution of the general meeting of members to be held on Jan. 19.
The 10th head's term runs for three years from Mar. 1, 2026, to Feb. 28, 2029, and the head of the Korea Accounting Standards Board concurrently serves as Chairperson of the Korea Accounting Standards Board (KASB) and Chairperson of the Korea Sustainability Standards Board (KSSB).
