Dunamu said on the 10th that as of last month, Upbit's hot wallet custody share was 1.67% and its cold wallet share was 98.33%. A hot wallet is a wallet that stores and manages digital assets while connected online, and a cold wallet refers to an offline wallet separated from the internet.
Under the Virtual Asset User Protection Act, virtual asset service providers must keep at least 80% of customers' deposited digital assets in cold wallets. Upbit has maintained a cold wallet storage ratio of more than 98%, exceeding this standard.
Recently, as part of a companywide security system upgrade, Upbit completed a review and overhaul of its wallet system. Upbit plans to reduce the hot wallet share to the 0% range going forward.
Oh Kyoung-suk of Dunamu said, "We are making continuous efforts to keep the hot wallet share at the lowest level in Korea."
