Hanwha Life said on the 10th that President Kim Dong-Won, chief global officer (CGO), delivered the opening remarks for the Global Market Summit at Abu Dhabi Finance Week (ADFW) 2025 on the 8th local time, emphasizing the meaning of bilateral cooperation and the role of finance. The Global Market Summit is an official session of ADFW 2025, held to analyze structural changes in global capital markets from multiple angles and to present the direction of future capital networks.
Kim said that "Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have steadily expanded the horizons of cooperation since establishing diplomatic ties in 1980," and added, "As a financial company, we will take the lead in carrying the two countries' '100-year partnership' into the next generation."
Kim went on to say, "Korea and the UAE share a DNA that turns crises into opportunities, does not fear change, and pursues long-term, trust-based relationships," and emphasized, "Finance is critical to building a sustainable financial partnership between the two countries. Finance is the catalyst that converts the will to cooperate into opportunities and the core that brings industry and innovation to life."
Kim also noted the importance of practical and sustainable cooperation with the UAE. He said, "Building on Abu Dhabi's advanced market infrastructure, we will create a new financial ecosystem together." Kim forecast that future cooperation between the two countries will expand, centered on finance, including co-investment in real assets, supply chain finance, cross-border payment infrastructure upgrades, and building digital asset platforms.
Kim also expressed a willingness to work with the UAE, saying, "I hope the journey that Abu Dhabi and Korea will create together becomes a global benchmark for future finance."
ADFW is the Middle East's largest financial event, hosted by Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) under the patronage of the Abu Dhabi crown prince. This year's ADFW is focusing on ways to redesign global capital flows and build a new financial operating system that combines traditional finance and digital finance under the theme of "Engineering the Capital Network."
