Shinhan Financial Group will convene an expanded Group Presidential Candidate Recommendation Committee, with all outside directors attending, on the 4th to decide the sole candidate for the next chairman.
Jin Ok-dong, the Shinhan Financial Group chairman seeking another term, said that day, "I will talk about what is needed and the role for Shinhan's next 100 years," adding, "I would like to talk about what is needed for Shinhan to continue for the next 50 and 100 years, and what my role is." He continued, "I would like to speak about how to return to our original intention from when Shinhan was founded 40 years ago."
Jin added about the other candidates, "I think there will be many aspects of their perspectives that we should take into account. I think this kind of opportunity to present such diverse perspectives to the directors is very good."
Lee Seon-hun, president of Shinhan Investment & Securities, who arrived next, said, "I will faithfully take part in the committee interview. As we enter a full-fledged era of investment, I will answer with a focus on the capital market."
Another candidate, Jeong Sang-hyeok, president of Shinhan Bank, said, "I took my entry-level employee interview in this building while trembling, and I am really nervous for the chairman interview as well. As I said when I was a new hire, I will confidently explain the direction Shinhan Bank and the group should take for the future."
The candidates for the next chairman attending the committee that day are Chairman Jin, Jeong Sang-hyeok of Shinhan Bank, Lee Seon-hun of Shinhan Investment & Securities, and one external candidate, four in total. The external candidate declined to disclose the name.
