According to the financial authorities on the 3rd, the Financial Supervisory Service is conducting an on-site inspection after more than 60 Gmarket users reported unauthorized payment damage.
On Gmarket, the incident is said to have occurred when gift certificates were paid for with cards registered to the "Smile Pay" easy payment service. Individual losses range from 30,000 to 200,000 won.
The Financial Supervisory Service is also conducting an on-site inspection to check whether payment information at Coupang Pay, Coupang's Fintech subsidiary, was leaked and to assess its information management practices.
