On the 28th, the KOSPI turned lower immediately after the open amid intraday selling by foreigners. In contrast, the KOSDAQ started higher as foreigners and institutions were net buyers.
As of 9:20 a.m., the KOSPI was moving around the 3,960 level, down about 0.6% from the previous day. The KOSPI started transaction at 3,995.30, up 8.39 points from the prior session, but soon turned lower, with the decline widening.
In the main board, foreigners and institutions were net sellers by 145.7 billion won and 25.1 billion won, dragging the index down. Only individuals showed a buying advantage of 176.9 billion won.
With the U.S. stock market closed for Thanksgiving overnight, investor sentiment appears somewhat subdued. The previous day, European stocks also looked quiet as transaction volume decreased due to the U.S. market holiday.
Blue lights came on for top market-cap stocks. Samsung Electronics (down 1.06%), SK hynix (down 0.92%), LG Energy Solution (down 0.23%), Doosan Enerbility (down 0.39%), KB Financial (down 0.24%), and Hanwha Aerospace (down 0.58%) were declining. Samsung Biologics (up 0.49%), Hyundai Motor (up 0.57%), and Kia (up 0.44%) were rising.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ was trading at 895.22, up 15.16 points (1.72%) from the previous day. The KOSDAQ began transaction at 888.75, up 8.69 points from the prior session.
In the KOSDAQ market, foreigners and institutions were net buyers of 31.6 billion won and 36.4 billion won, respectively. Only individuals were net sellers of 60.8 billion won.
Top KOSDAQ market-cap stocks were rising. Alteogen (up 4.8%), EcoPro BM (up 1.77%), EcoPro (up 1.34%), ABL Bio (up 2.92%), Rainbow Robotics (up 3.26%), Peptron (up 11.85%), LigaChem Biosciences (up 5.76%), and HLB (up 0.32%) were gaining.
In the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won-dollar rate was trading at 1,462.8 won per U.S. dollar at the same time, down 0.2 won (0.01%) from the previous session.
