The executive candidate recommendation committee (appointment committee) of BNK Financial Group said on the 28th it confirmed a total of four people as the second group of candidates for the next chairman and CEO: Chairman Bin Dae-in of BNK Financial Group, Busan Bank President Bang Seong-bin, BNK Capital CEO Kim Seong-ju, and former Busan Bank President An Gam-chan.
After selecting the first group of candidates on the 6th, the appointment committee made this decision following a three-week review process that included interviews with outside experts and presentation interviews.
The outside expert interviews were conducted through questions and evaluations by experts in related fields on segmented evaluation items, such as insight into industry and region, IT response capability, the candidate's management philosophy on finance overall, and organizational leadership. Through the presentation interviews, the committee evaluated the candidate's views and philosophy on the group's future vision and response strategy to changes in the financial environment.
BNK Financial Group plans to recommend a final candidate on the 8th of next month after in-depth interviews and discussions with the second group of candidates selected this time. The recommended chairman and CEO candidate will be reviewed and resolved for suitability by the board of directors convened after the appointment committee and confirmed as the final candidate. After that, the person will be appointed chairman with approval at the regular shareholders meeting of BNK Financial Group in March next year.
An appointment committee official said, "Since the start of the succession procedure on Oct. in line with the group's management succession plan and best practices in governance, we have proceeded rigorously, and in particular, we narrowed the second group of candidates by actively reflecting evaluations and opinions from a range of outside experts, rather than keeping only to the appointment committee members' perspectives."
