As of 1:50 p.m. that day, the KOSPI index was down 3.27% (133.86 points) from the previous trading day at 3,955.39.
Starting the day at 4,044.47, down 44.78 points (1.10%), the KOSPI index has been steadily widening its losses.
In the main board, institutions and foreigners are leading the decline. While institutions are net sellers of 594.1 billion won and foreigners 283.9 billion won, individuals alone are net buyers of 874.9 billion won.
All of the top 10 stocks by market cap on the main board are declining. In particular, SK hynix is down more than 5%.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index was down 3.15% (28.46 points) at 874.07.
On the KOSDAQ market as well, foreigners and institutions are leading the decline. While foreigners are net sellers of 190.9 billion won and institutions 127.4 billion won, individuals alone are net buyers of 395.5 billion won.
All of the top KOSDAQ market cap stocks are falling. In particular, EcoPro, EcoPro BM, ABL Bio, Rainbow Robotics, and Sam Chun Dang Pharm posted steep declines.
Lee Jae-won, a researcher at Shinhan Investment & Securities, said, "Caution toward tech stocks is expected to persist until the Nvidia earnings release and the U.S. employment report scheduled for on the 20th."
