The Financial Supervisory Service said on the 17th that it will introduce an "automatic card points use service" at eight specialized card companies. The move aims to boost convenience in using card points and minimize points that expire.
The automatic card points use service automatically applies points, in the predesignated unit chosen when a cardmember enrolls in the service, to card payments. The Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) said it plans to allow older adults to use the service without a separate application.
The Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) also said it will offer a statement-linked service that lets users check points scheduled to expire and use them immediately. Through a QR code scan or a shortcut banner in the statement, users can easily use points or convert them to cash without complicated steps.
The Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) said it will also strengthen advance notifications so consumers do not miss that their points are set to expire. In addition to existing statement notices, it plans to provide extra alerts about points scheduled to expire via text message or Alimtalk before expiration.
