Hyundai Card said on the 13th that as of the end of the third quarter this year, the number of premium members was about 420,000, up 35,000 from a year earlier. Total membership was 12.61 million, up 360,000 over the same period.
Hyundai Card is credited with leading the domestic premium card market, starting in 2005 with the country's first VVIP (very, very important person) card, "the Black." Hyundai Card the Black drew attention because, unlike conventional credit cards that are issued upon payment of an annual fee, membership is available only to people invited by Hyundai Card who have a certain level of wealth and social influence.
In June, Hyundai Card expanded its premium card lineup by exclusively launching in Korea, for the first time, American Express's top-tier "original black card." The card is known to be issued only to the top 0.001% of VVIPs worldwide, such as Bill Gates and U.S. President Donald Trump.
Hyundai Card has also built a diverse premium card lineup, including the Purple, the Red, the Green, and the Pink. Last year, it launched "Hyundai Card Summit," which strengthened benefits in areas such as children's education and medical care for young parents.
Hyundai Card is enhancing its brand value through cultural marketing, including its Library, Super Concert, and Culture Project. A Hyundai Card official said, "We will continue to solidify the leadership in the premium card market that Hyundai Card has maintained for the past 20-plus years."
