The Credit Finance Association said on the 31st that in the third quarter of this year, total card approved amount and approved transactions were 327.7 trillion won and 7.83 billion, up 6.7% and 5.5% from a year earlier, respectively.
In the third quarter of this year, personal card approved amount and approved transactions were 265.7 trillion won and 7.42 billion, up 5.9% and 5.7% from a year earlier. During the same period, corporate card approved amount and approved transactions were 62.2 trillion won and 420 million, up 10.3% and 2.9% from the same quarter a year earlier.
The association analyzed that consumption is clearly improving, supported by stronger consumer sentiment due to rising stock prices, a downtrend in market interest rates, and stimulus measures including consumption coupons. It also judged that overall card approval performance increased due to factors such as higher vehicle sales.
It is observed that corporate cards showed a relatively higher approved amount growth rate (10.3%) than personal cards due to factors such as increased tax and utility payments stemming from continued improvement in domestic corporations' operating results, and a difference in the number of business days compared with the third quarter of last year (+3 days).
