Philoptics said on the 29th that it was selected as a top materials, parts, and equipment (MPE) corporation overseen by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. The MPE top corporations program discovers MPE corporations with technological capabilities and growth potential and nurtures them into leading corporations.
Philoptics put forward glass substrate processing technology for semiconductor packaging as its core strategic technology. A glass substrate is a substrate made of glass instead of conventional plastic or ceramic, and is considered strong in heat resistance and high in flatness, allowing circuits to be integrated more finely.
Philoptics plans to begin in earnest research to advance laser TGV (Through Glass Via; through-glass electrode fabrication) process technology for glass substrates for semiconductor packaging, based on customized government support. For research and development, it decided to collaborate with stage development specialist corporations InnoRobotics and vision inspection specialist corporations PIE.
A Philoptics official said, "As a result of proactively responding with an eye on the future of the glass substrate industry, we achieved the outcome of being named an MPE top corporation," and added, "We will concentrate resources on research and development (R&D) to advance our technological capabilities and expand cooperation with global corporations."
