Lee Hyeong-ju, a standing member of the Financial Services Commission (FSC), was appointed as the new head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).
The Financial Services Commission (FSC) announced these Grade-1 promotions on Oct. 29. Ahn Chang-guk, director general of the Financial Industry Bureau, was appointed as an FSC standing member, and Park Min-woo, director general of the Capital Markets Bureau, was appointed as a standing member of the Securities and Futures Commission.
Lee, the new FIU head, was born in 1972 and graduated from Inheon High School and Seoul National University with a degree in business administration, then received an MBA from Dartmouth College in the United States. After entering public service through the 39th civil service exam, Lee served as director of the Financial Policy Division at the Financial Services Commission (FSC), head of the Financial Innovation Planning Team, and director general of the Financial Industry Bureau.
With the Grade-1 personnel moves at the Financial Services Commission (FSC) underway, appointments at the bureau chief and Director levels are also expected soon.
