Financial Services Commission Chairperson Lee Eok-won said on the 2nd, "If an infrastructure incident occurs at a related financial institution after today, we will get to the bottom of the cause and hold those responsible strictly accountable."
Chairperson Lee held a meeting with heads of related financial institutions at the Government Complex Seoul that day and said, "Please inspect and manage financial infrastructure swiftly and thoroughly from a zero base." After incidents such as the National Information Resources Service fire and the Lotte Card personal information leak, he summoned each agency head to urge accident prevention.
Attending the meeting were Financial Supervisory Service Governor Lee Chan-jin; Korea Exchange Chairperson Jeong Eun-bo; the chair of Korea Development Bank and the president of Industrial Bank of Korea; Korea Credit Guarantee Fund (KODIT) Chairperson; Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC) President; Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO) President; Korea Housing Finance Corporation President; Korea Inclusive Finance Agency (KINFA) President; Korea Securities Depository President; Financial Security Institute President; Korea Credit Information Services President; and Korea Financial Telecommunications and Clearings Institute President, among other major agency heads.
Chairperson Lee also called for concentrating efforts on "productive finance" and "financial consumer protection." He said, "Policy finance institutions should take the lead in supplying funds to advanced, venture, and regional economies, and inclusive finance institutions should properly support the comeback of the vulnerable," adding, "Lead the way in your respective areas based on creativity and proactiveness."
