Hana Securities said on the 1st that it will keep its overseas stock desk operating as normal during the Chuseok holiday so investors can invest in overseas stocks without inconvenience.
Hana Securities currently supports stock transactions in 21 countries. During the holiday, all transactions will be supported as normal in countries that are not closed. The Chinese stock market will be closed, the same as in Korea; on the 6th Taiwan will be closed, and on the 7th the Hong Kong market will be closed.
Hana Securities plans to operate its overseas desk 24 hours so customers can make transactions online and offline without inconvenience. Nam Taek-min, head of PWM Sales at Hana Securities, said, "We will do our utmost to run a 24-hour desk so we can respond immediately to overseas market volatility that may occur during the long holiday."
Meanwhile, Hana Securities has been running an "overseas stock welcome event" for new non-face-to-face customers since last month. All customers who open an account receive a $30 U.S. stock purchase coupon and fractional shares of Palantir (PLTR) worth 1,000 won. In addition, it offers a full waiver of U.S. stock transaction fees and preferred exchange rates for dollars for six months.
