Samil PwC said on the 24th that it will begin in earnest to provide internal control certification (SOC 2) services for overseas-expanding cloud corporations through the Risk Assurance Trust, which launched in Jul.
SOC 2 certification is a certification service on how software development and sales companies process and protect customer data. SOC 2 is a certification framework established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and corporations based in the United States generally present the SOC 2 certification report as a mandatory requirement when signing service contracts.
According to Samil PwC, with the recent rapid spread of cloud services, domestic corporations are accelerating their entry into overseas markets by launching IT platform services targeting the world through a cloud environment with few geographic constraints. Accordingly, the demand from these corporations for SOC 2 certification continues to increase.
However, it was found that many domestic corporations seeking to enter the United States are facing difficulties such as contract delays and postponements of service delivery because they cannot meet SOC 2 certification. Drawing on the know-how accumulated by directly experiencing these on-the-ground issues, Samil PwC has been providing SOC 2 framework implementation and SOC 2 certification services.
Hong Woo-sik, a partner at Samil PwC's Risk Assurance Trust, which provides internal control certification (SOC 2) services, said, "As we have experienced prolonged service outages due to data center fires in Korea and serious incidents caused by neglecting information security control measures, interest is growing in SOC 2 certification services, which have the nature of an audit of users' information security," and added, "In this situation, we will present solutions that minimize certification-related difficulties for domestic corporations entering the U.S. market and support smooth business expansion."
