On the 23rd, designated as savings banks' social contribution day, the Korea Federation of Savings Banks signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Traditional Market Promotion Foundation to strengthen support for small merchants and the self-employed.
Based on this MOU, the Traditional Market Promotion Foundation, which supports the development of traditional markets, and the savings bank industry, a private finance institution for low-income people, will support small merchants and the self-employed in traditional markets. To effectively support young small merchants and the self-employed, they will carry out a project providing daily-life infrastructure support (rent, fixtures, etc.) across six regions nationwide. A total of 135 business sites are slated for support within this year.
Employees of the Korea Federation of Savings Banks visited the Seonyudo Alley Market in Yeongdeungpo District, conducted a neighborhood cleanup (plogging), and visited about 80 shops to deliver donated goods. Oh Hwa-gyeong, head of the Korea Federation of Savings Banks, said, "The two organizations will collaborate to strengthen practical support for small merchants and local self-employed people in various areas, including consulting for the self-employed."
