Standard Chartered Bank Korea said on the 23rd that it will run a special-rate promotion for the "SC First Hi account," a demand deposit account with free deposits and withdrawals that offers up to 2.6% when preferred-rate conditions are met, through the end of September.
Standard Chartered Bank Korea will offer first-transaction customers a base rate of 0.1% and up to 2.5 percentage points in preferred rates through this promotion. The Hi account is a demand deposit product with a double meaning: it "greets" customers with a friendly "Hi" and offers a high (high) interest rate.
First-transaction customers at Standard Chartered Bank Korea can receive a preferred rate of 1.2–2.0 percentage points depending on the Hi account's daily balance. The period for offering preferred rates by balance for first-transaction customer accounts applies for one year from the subscription date, and is extended in one-year increments if certain conditions are met. A first-transaction customer refers to a new-account customer within 31 days from the customer's initial new registration date. In addition, 0.1 percentage point is provided when opening an account via an affiliated channel, 0.2 percentage point when consenting to marketing, and 0.2 percentage point if the customer has Standard Chartered Bank Korea Priority status or higher.
Among the preferred rates, for the "preferred rate by account balance for first-transaction customers," a special rate of 2.0 percentage points is provided to all first-transaction customers regardless of the daily balance through the end of this year. Because the special-rate period is limited, joining even a day earlier allows customers to enjoy more rate benefits. From Jan. 1, 2026, after the special-rate period ends, the preferred rate by balance for first-transaction customers will be tiered according to the final daily balance (less than 100 million won: 1.2 percentage points; 100 million–300 million won inclusive: 1.6 percentage points; over 300 million won: 2.0 percentage points).
Standard Chartered Bank Korea will give a 100% cash reward of 10,000 won if a first-transaction customer maintains a balance of at least 10 million won on the newly subscribed Hi account as of Sep. 30, 2025, and Oct. 31. Among these customers, one person selected by lottery will receive 1 million won in cash, and 10 people will receive 100,000 won in cash. However, if selected in the lottery, the 10,000 won cash that is provided at 100% will not be paid in duplicate. To participate in the event, customers must apply for the event, which can be done through Standard Chartered Bank Korea mobile banking.
The Hi account also provides benefits that waive various fees, including internet and mobile banking transfer fees, out-of-hours withdrawals at the bank's ATMs, interbank transfer fees at the bank's ATMs (up to 10 times per month), withdrawals at other banks' ATMs (including after-hours and holidays), and other-bank automatic transfer fees.
Jeong Jae-won, head of collateral lending and deposit products at Standard Chartered Bank Korea, said, "The Hi account offers free deposits and withdrawals, industry-leading interest benefits, and even fee waivers," adding, "Customers seeking a parking account to place surplus funds can enjoy even greater benefits through this special-rate promotion."
