Kakao Pay is accepting second-round applications for the "people's livelihood recovery consumption coupons," which provide 100,000 won to 90% of the public.
After receiving the consumption coupons as Kakao Pay Money and using them on mobile, you can use them anywhere with the Kakao Pay Travelog check card. At payment, the consumption coupons are used first, and after the balance is fully depleted, payment is made with Kakao Pay Money charged from the account. You can check the remaining balance of the consumption coupons on the payment screen, and receive the usage details immediately via a KakaoTalk message.
When paying on mobile without a physical card, you can use it not only at Kakao Pay merchants but also at Samsung Pay and Zero Pay stores. On the top of the payment screen, select barcode, Samsung Pay, or QR scan according to the method provided by the store to pay. With the Kakao Pay Travelog check card, you can use the consumption coupons without restrictions at all credit card merchants nationwide.
This card offers the benefits of foreign currency Hana Money overseas and the benefits of Kakao Pay Money in Korea, and its "ultra-connectivity," which allows free linking with accounts from all financial sectors including not only commercial banks but also internet banks, securities firms, and savings banks, is cited as a differentiating strength.
Kakao Pay said that an analysis of first-round consumption coupon usage data applied for with Kakao Pay Money, conducted through its life-centric financial brand journal "Pay Attention," showed the coupons were used broadly, from small everyday payments to high-value essential expenses. The most frequent usage was at convenience stores (51%), followed by coffee shops (11%), general restaurants (8%), PC rooms and arcades (7%), and supermarkets and markets (3%). The highest single payment amount was at private education institutes (200,100 won), followed by auto repair (122,100 won) and leisure and sports goods (88,700 won).
Kakao Pay also prepared additional benefits for users applying for the second-round consumption coupons. If you apply for the consumption coupons with Kakao Pay Money and enter the event, a total of 50 people will receive up to 2 million won in Kakao Pay Points through a drawing. Five people will receive 2 million won, 15 people will receive 500,000 won, and 30 people will receive 200,000 won through a drawing.
The application method is simple. You can easily apply on KakaoTalk without installing or signing up for a separate app or carrying another credit or debit card. From the More tab on KakaoTalk, go to Kakao Pay Home or open the Kakao Pay app, then tap "people's livelihood recovery consumption coupons" on Home and apply. A KakaoTalk notification service is also provided so you can apply on the day assigned to the last digit of your birth year, enhancing user convenience.
