Kakao Pay Securities said on the 15th that it will be the first in the industry to pay U.S. stock dividends on Saturdays. This follows the "holiday dividend payments" implemented 4th and is a step to enhance investment convenience.
Until now, dividends that occurred on Friday in U.S. local time (Saturday in Korea time) were paid in a lump sum on the following Monday, delaying cash rotation, but now users can put funds to work immediately over the weekend.
The company emphasized that this is also significant from a technical standpoint. While weekday holidays can be set and processed like weekdays in the system, Saturday is classified as a weekend when the payment network stops, so separate infrastructure for dividend payments had to be built from scratch.
To mark the launch of the service, Kakao Pay Securities will run a dividend-stock investment promotion starting on the 24th. During the event, users who invest in dividend stocks will receive discounted transaction fees to ease the burden on dividend-stock investors. Details can be found in the "View all events" menu under the securities tab in the Kakao Pay app.
A Kakao Pay Securities official said, "Expanding the first-in-the-industry holiday dividend payments to Saturdays reflects our prioritization of user-centric service," adding, "We will deliver an investment experience that doesn't stop on weekends."
