Korea Investment Holdings subsidiary Korea Investment and Securities said on the 15th that it launched the Model Context Protocol (MCP) service, directly linked with artificial intelligence (AI) so users can easily develop investment programs. It is the first among domestic securities firms.
Korea Investment and Securities developed and applied MCP to its open API service. MCP is a communication protocol that enables consistent connections between AI agents and external data sources, tools, and workflows. Through this, users can easily create investment programs using the Korea Investment and Securities open API with natural-language instructions, without a separate complex coding process.
For example, by using the MCP service, a simple prompt like "If stock A rises 5%, make a program that buys 10 shares" can implement a personalized trading tool.
Korea Investment and Securities also opened its trading API so investors and developers can implement their own strategies—such as algorithmic and quant—as programs, and it operates the developer center KIS Developers. Through this upgrade, it made available in one place the trading API and released, free on the open-source platform GitHub, sample code that can be used immediately in actual services. It newly introduced a ChatGPT-based chatbot service (GPTs) to provide 24-hour support for API usage guidance, error resolution, and examples.
Korea Investment and Securities plans to expand the scope of the service in stages in line with AI-related security and regulatory requirements. Kim Sung-hwan, CEO of Korea Investment and Securities, said, "As demand grows for customized investment programs using AI and open APIs, our goal is to provide an environment where anyone can easily build their own investment tools," adding, "We plan to expand real-world use cases by broadening connections not only with individual customers but also with corporations."
