The Financial Services Commission announced on the 20th that it will hold a joint hiring fair for the financial sector at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP).
A total of 80 financial institutions, including 14 banks, 19 insurance companies, and 6 securities firms, will participate in the fair, which runs until the 21st.
Twelve banks will conduct on-site interviews for young applicants who have passed the preliminary document review, and those selected as excellent interviewees will be exempt from the document screening during hiring.
Eighteen financial public enterprises will conduct mock interviews, and 50 participating institutions will have human resources representatives provide hiring consultations. The fair has also introduced video mock interviews and consultations for job seekers who cannot visit in person.
Conferences introducing trends and hiring information in new financial industries such as big tech and fintech, as well as the organizational culture and hiring trends of each institution, will also be held.
The fair is scheduled to transition to an online platform in September.
Cho Yong-byeong, chairman of the Korean Bankers Association, encouraged job creation for young people in the financial sector by saying, 'The financial sector is actively creating new jobs for young people through accelerated digital transformation and diversification of job roles.'
Kwon Dae-young, vice chairman of the Financial Services Commission, noted, 'The financial sector should continue to actively pursue hiring and provide many internship opportunities for young people to experience the financial institutional sector.' He added, emphasizing the importance of supplying funds to productive sectors, that 'funding should be actively provided to productive areas such as startups and ventures with young people's ideas and passions, rather than to collateral-based pawn shop style operations.'
Yoon Han-hong, chairperson of the National Policy Committee, said, 'The National Assembly will also establish trusted policies and systems to provide broad job opportunities for young people.'
