The light-emitting diode (LED) manufacturing corporation HM Nex announced on the 13th that it recorded sales of 8.6 billion won and a net profit of 3.5 billion won in the first half of this year (January to June). Sales increased by 13.5% compared to the same period last year, and it has continued to post net profits for four consecutive years.
HM Nex acquired the semiconductor deposition process equipment company SME in May, which has been reflected in this half's performance. SME posted sales of 11.3 billion won and a net profit of 1 billion won in the first half of this year.
SME expects good performance in the second half of this year, as its main client, SK hynix, plans to commence operation of the M15X expansion fab (semiconductor production facility) under construction in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province. SK hynix is planning to address the demand for next-generation products such as sixth-generation high bandwidth memory (HBM4) through M15X before the completion of the first fab at the Yongin semiconductor cluster in 2027.
HM Nex stated, "We expect the benefits of SME related to SK hynix's M15X ultra-pure facility, which will be fully operational in the second half of this year," adding, "We will continue to grow from our existing LED business into the semiconductor sector."
