Kakao Pay Securities announced on the 5th that it will hold a special event with BGF Retail, the operator of CU convenience stores, throughout the month of August.
This collaboration was established to lower the investment barrier and provide opportunities to engage with stocks easily and enjoyably in everyday life. Kakao Pay Securities plans to offer stock gifts to CU customers and support first-time stock transaction users with CU membership VIP benefits.
The 'stock gift' event, running until the 31st, allows anyone who has purchased qualifying products at approximately 18,600 CU convenience stores nationwide and earned CU points to participate. After purchasing and earning at CU, customers need to click on 'Get stocks' on the Pocket CU app event page to receive a coupon number, which can be registered on the Kakao Pay app securities tab event page.
Kakao Pay Securities explained that it added fun by linking stock gifts to purchased products. For instance, buying Coca-Cola drinks will yield 'Coca-Cola stocks,' while purchasing 'Apple-flavored' drinks will yield 'Apple stocks,' and buying products related to the keyword 'soft' will randomly grant 'Microsoft stocks.' The amounts range from a minimum of 1,000 won to a maximum of 1 million won, with a maximum of two participations per person.
During the same period, a 'stock transaction' event will also be held. This event is targeted at users who have had no stock transaction history with Kakao Pay Securities as of the 29th of last month this year.
During the August event period, completing 'Participate' on the Kakao Pay app securities tab event page and transacting over 80,000 won in either domestic or international stocks will yield a coupon that allows for an upgrade to Pocket CU membership VIP grade. VIP grade holders can enjoy 2% points accrual, which is higher than the standard 0.5%, along with various discount benefits.
A representative from Kakao Pay Securities said, 'We planned this to provide overseas stock investment experiences through everyday consumption, ensuring that stock transactions can also lead to lifestyle benefits' and noted, 'We plan to continually introduce events that allow everyone to invest easily and joyfully in the future.'
