Shares of Nextchip, a KOSDAQ-listed company, are strong in early trading on the 5th following news that it has completed the development of vision sensor chips for defense drones.
As of 9:06 a.m. on that day, Nextchip is trading at 5,640 won, an increase of 1,180 won (26.46%) compared to the previous trading day.
Nextchip, a specialist in autonomous driving semiconductors, noted that it has completed the development of vision sensor chips for defense and plans to apply them in various defense sectors, including military drones, smart sights, and unmanned armored vehicles.
Nextchip plans to collaborate with sensor specialists by integrating its self-developed thermal imaging processor with existing system on chips. Currently, it is engaged in technological cooperation with Taiwan-based sensor company Tien Yuen Global, listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, and U.S.-based thermal imaging specialist Seek Thermal.
A company official said, "We have officially entered the defense market based on the vision sensor technology accumulated in the autonomous driving field," and "We plan to expand our business area through various defense projects in the future."
