Korea Securities Depository (KSD) reported on the 28th that the total amount related to the capital market processed in the first half of this year reached 4.5131 quadrillion won. This is a 23% increase from 3.6675 quadrillion won in the same period last year. The average daily processing amount was 382 trillion won, an increase of about 30% from 303 trillion won in the same period last year.
The amount related to the capital market refers to the money processed through the Korea Securities Depository (KSD) in the capital market. Typical examples include trading settlement amounts, registered securities principal and interest, and stock rights amounts.
In the first half of this year, the total trading settlement amount was 4.2702 quadrillion won, of which 92.2% (3.9373 quadrillion won) was the settlement amount for over-the-counter repurchase agreements (Repo). The settlement amounts for bond institutions including over-the-counter Repo, on-exchange bond settlement amounts, and equity institution settlement amounts all increased compared to the same period last year. During the same period, the on-exchange equity settlement amount decreased by 0.9%.
The principal and interest of registered securities amounted to 119.9 trillion won in the first half of this year, a 16% increase compared to the same period last year. The short-term bond principal and interest, which accounted for the largest share at 42.1%, drove the overall increase.
