BC Card announced on the 22nd that it has signed a strategic agreement with the artificial intelligence (AI) search technology startup Liner to promote various collaborations by combining both companies' AI platforms.
Liner is an AI search service that provides highly accurate information based on reliable sources. Recently, Liner's Pro Reasoning recorded the highest accuracy among AI search services worldwide in a test evaluating the accuracy of AI service responses, proving its technological prowess.
The signing ceremony was held on the morning of the 22nd at the BC Card headquarters located in Jung-gu, Seoul, with attendance from Choi Won-seok, president of BC Card, and Kim Jin-woo, CEO of Liner, along with key officials from both companies.
Through this agreement, the two companies plan to closely cooperate on various 'AI-based services' such as developing joint services based on AI, launching customer-tailored services utilizing data analysis, and planning new services incorporating AI technology.
'AI-based services' refer to services in which customers request the information they want using natural language, without complex menu operations, and AI understands this to provide personalized results.
BC Card is currently operating the 'eat.pl' service, referred to as '잇플,' which utilizes real-time payment data from PayBook. This service analyzes information such as the real-time operating status of merchants, crowded times, customer gender and age groups, and nearby merchants that customers move to after payment to provide it to customers.
Typically, when looking for information about popular restaurants, people rely on blog reviews or testimonials, but the frequency of wasted trips due to outdated information or promotional reviews is on the rise. However, if Liner's advanced AI technology is applied to '잇플,' it is expected to significantly reduce these inconveniences by providing accurate information based on actual payment data.
Positive changes are also anticipated for merchant owners. By analyzing real-time customer inflow patterns and consumption behaviors, they will be able to identify effective marketing timings, and with AI-based personalized recommendations, customer satisfaction will increase, leading to higher return rates and sales improvements. Additionally, the opportunities for partnerships with nearby merchants will become more diverse compared to before.
Choi Won-seok, president of BC Card, stated, 'The background for the signing of this MOU is to combine Liner's AI search technology, which has been validated in the global market, with our domain expertise to create new AI services.' He noted that in the future, BC Card will lead the market by continuously releasing innovative AI service models through the promotion of AI-related businesses.
Kim Jin-woo, CEO of Liner, said, 'The restaurant search feature introduced through collaboration with BC Card exemplifies how technology convergence across industries can deliver contextually relevant information to users in a precise and timely manner.' He added, 'For AI to provide practical value in everyday life, it must become 'everyone's AI' that is easy and convenient for anyone to use. This collaboration is an opportunity to actively expand technological cooperation with various domestic corporations and lead the integration of AI into daily life.'
