Employees of the Financial Supervisory Service conveyed their opposition to the restructuring that involves separating the Financial Consumer Protection Agency to the Presidential Committee on Policy Planning.

According to the financial sector on the 21st, 1,539 working-level staff members, including team leaders and senior investigators from 73 departments of the FSS, submitted a complaint statement titled 'A plea from the working-level staff of the Financial Supervisory Service regarding the separation of the Financial Consumer Protection Agency' to the Presidential Committee on Policy Planning. Most of the 1,791 employees, excluding the heads of divisions and absent members, participated in drafting the statement.

In the statement, they said, "The separation of the Financial Consumer Protection Agency under review by the Presidential Committee on Policy Planning is not a real measure for protecting financial consumers," adding, "To genuinely enhance the rights and interests of financial consumers, it is effective and desirable to maintain the current integrated system of the FSS and the Financial Consumer Protection Agency."

They continued, "The supervision and inspection of financial companies' product manufacturing, sales, and contract compliance all pertain to the protection of financial consumers," stating, "The work of protecting financial consumers is not limited to handling complaints and disputes." They further noted, "Establishing a Financial Consumer Protection Agency would only divide the protection available to all financial consumers and does not align with the consumer protection that the new government is pursuing."

They also stated, "Currently, the FSS assigns employees who have performed industry-specific supervision and inspection tasks to the Financial Consumer Protection Agency and is having them carry out consumer protection duties," asserting, "A virtuous cycle structure for consumer protection work has been established."

Earlier, the FSS union released a statement opposing the separation of the Financial Consumer Protection Agency and recently conducted a protest in front of the Presidential Committee on Policy Planning.
